Duties
This position is located under the Office of Field Operations in Laredo, Texas.
Qualifications
Travel is required to attend a mandatory 4-week IRS Basic Training Course within one year of hiring.
To qualify for the GS-11, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-9 in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience, performing the following duties:
Collecting, analyzing, and/or disseminating intelligence information; using a variety of intelligence-gathering methods including link analyses, visual investigative analyses, crime mapping, and telephone toll record analyses to support investigative operations;
Extracting, compiling, and/or analyzing factual information based on requests from special agents;
Presenting briefings on a variety of intelligence topics to other law enforcement and intelligence agencies and organizations;
Maintaining and modifying computerized intelligence databases to generate statistical and relational reports;
Producing intelligence reports based on a review of data from various sources.
OR
In lieu of specialized experience you may qualify for the GS-11 with a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a degree in a field of study related to this position that provides them with knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

To qualify for the GS-12, candidates must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-11 in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience, performing the following duties:
Using a variety of intelligence-gathering methods including link analyses, visual investigative analyses, crime mapping, and/or telephone toll record analyses to support investigative operations;
Facilitates the investigations conducted by federal/state local agencies or task forces;
Serve as a technical consultant to management officials on intelligence issues affecting local/state and/or federal agencies;
Utilize judgement and experience in intelligence operations;
Conducts long-range planning in assigned area of responsibility considering actual and potential problems and presents findings to supervisor or senior intelligence research specialist.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level GS-12.
