About the position: This position will be assigned to the 14th FSS Sustainment Services Flight -Fitness Center located at Columbus Air Force Base.
Duties
Assists Fitness Center Director in planning, coordinating, and managing all administrative, operational, and fiscal aspects of a comprehensive fitness and sports program. Performs alt management functions in the absence of the director. Manages all aspects of the base adult fitness program to include all core fitness activities, enhanced programs, and instructor contracts. Establishes an annual fitness plan for all training, fitness classes, incentive programs, and special events. Prepares budget for all fitness contracts and ensures payments are being made in accordance with the contract and Air Force guidance. Manages all core activity offerings and schedules, and periodically reviews programs to ensure activities are meeting AFI requirements and customer needs. Ensures all activities adhere to safe exercise principles. Establishes appropriate exercise classes for those individuals on the Air Force Fitness Improvement Program. Works directly with the Medical Group to execute integrated fitness/wellness initiatives, as needed. Oversees fitness equipment maintenance and usage. Conducts regular inspections of equipment for proper preventative practices. Assists in budget planning for equipment purchases and replacement. Conducts demonstrations for customers and staff on proper usage of fitness equipment. Assists in establishing fitness training requirements for all personnel, as needed. Assures fitness areas have supervision/monitoring during peak usage hours. Research current fitness journals and publications and provides sound, credible fitness information and products to customers. Supervises recreation aids and assistants. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Qualifying Experience:
I year specialized experience which provided knowledge of a standardized body of rules, procedures, and operations related to one or more indoor/outdoor recreation functions in order to perform the required activities in a fitness and sports environment. Experience must have demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position. Requires skill in preparing budgets, managing financial and fiscal resources and sports programs and in organizing and utilizing available resources within program framework. Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 75 pounds. Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty. Ability to supervise, train, and schedule subordinates. Must be able to complete a favorable Tier I background investigation.

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
