This position is with the NAS Enterprise Services Group under the Operations Support Directorate, AJW-1. The NAS Enterprise Services Group is responsible for providing second-level engineering support for NAS equipment, national software, hardware, and technical documentation.

Duties

The Computer Engineer provides engineering experience in support of the systems engineering function for National Airspace System (NAS) systems and resolves complex problems related to the introduction of new systems into the NAS. Performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments and plans the implementation of projects/programs under limited direction of a manager, project/program manager, or more experienced engineer.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized Experience is: Experience providing operations and maintenance support of National Airspace System (NAS) systems involving the modification and modernization of hardware/firmware/software systems and experience analyzing operational readiness or supportability of new NAS systems for deployment.Applicants may also qualify for this series and grade with education:Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor’s degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronicsORCombination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.Selection may be made from this announcement or ACT-ATO-24-AJW1720-89766.
