This position is located within USDA Rural Development (RD) and serves as a Pathways Recent Graduate assisting higher graded technicians in performing a variety of technical and clerical support functions involving loan and/or grant programs. This position leads to a Loan Technician, GS-1101-7 position.
This is NOT a remote/virtual position. Incumbent will be expected to report to the office.
Duties
Responds to inquiries of a technical nature from RD field offices, lenders, attorneys, congressional staff, and others concerning programs with regard to eligibility and other requirements for loans, grants and loan guarantees.
Develops and runs reports; prepares spreadsheets to track items such as funds allocations, funds usage, delinquencies, un-liquidated obligations, rental assistance, tenant vouchers, etc.,
Prepares and reviews closing related documents to ensure adequacy, completeness, accuracy of information, and to ensure conditions are met in advance of closing.
Ensures data integrity for assigned programs at all stages of the loan/grant making and servicing process.
Initiates and prepares a variety of correspondence, maintains records, reports and files.

Qualifications
To be eligible, applicants must meet one of the following requirements;
Completed all requirements for an associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational, or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution within the previous two (2) years; or
Individuals who, due to military service obligation, were precluded from applying to the Recent Graduates Program during any portion of the 2-year eligibility period described above shall have a full 2-year period of eligibility upon release or discharge from active duty. This eligibility period cannot extend more than 6 years from the date on which the requirements for the academic course of study were met.
In addition to meeting the eligibility requirements above, applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
For the GS-05 level: Applicants must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04; or its non-Federal equivalent that demonstrates experience which includes performing a full range of clerical assignments, resolving recurring problems related to a business industry, providing customer service to a wide range of customers, and handling currency, transactions, and confidential information in a responsible manner. Experience may have been gained in work comparable to compiling, maintaining, and updating data, lists, and reports using knowledge of where data is obtained and independently acquiring information to perform standard tasks OR 4 years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. Equivalent combination of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level.
For the GS-06 level: Applicants must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05; or its non-Federal equivalent that demonstrates experience in the use of specialized clerical assistance to perform a full range of standard and non-standard assignments resolving a variety of non-recurring problems and including a variety of assignments having different unrelated steps, processes, or methods such a s processing transactions for credit programs, commercial, real estate, or other loan/grant programs having similar characteristic but requiring the use of different steps, procedures or methods to complete the process. Experience may have been gained in work comparable to examining program applications for completeness, discrepancies, meeting eligibility requirements, and other special requisites and identifying situations that are inconsistent with previous experience in similar situations using available information, regulations, or other guidelines or may involve fraud, etc. There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS-06 level.
