Duties

Compile maps, collect digital data for GIS processes Work with technical staff and mangers to provide maps needed in connection with compliance, construction, and operations and maintenance of projects Produce products to effectively present the results of analysis of the geodatabase in the form of reports, tables, plotted maps, applications, coverage's, export files, or other customer requested products Maintain geodatabases and applications to satisfy the needs of the Albuquerque Area Office (AAO), using Python coding Combine data from internal sources and external agencies enabling AAO Program and Project Managers to better plan and execute projects Maintain working relationships with BOR staff and to determine and clarify GIS project requirements

Qualifications

To be eligible for consideration, you must first meet the Basic Education Requirement for this position, having a Degree: cartography; or a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography and/or directly related science, and related mathematics. Such course work includes, but is not limited to, cartography, astronomy, geodesy, photogrammetry, physical and geological oceanography, computer science, land surveying, geophysics, physical geography, and remote sensing. The 30 semester hours must have included at least 6, but no more than 15, semester hours of college level, non-business mathematics or statistics (i.e., college level algebra, trigonometry, calculus, or scientific mathematics or statistics requiring equivalent college-level courses as prerequisites); OR Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in cartography, or a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography, and/or directly related science, and related mathematics, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the education and/or specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume. To qualify at the GS-07, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-05 level in federal service having demonstrated experience assisting more senior staff with developing mobile mapping applications for field data collection, assisting senior staff with recreation and lands geospatial data creation for cartographic products, and following geospatial data management requirements. OR You could otherwise qualify on the basis of Education having one year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement. You may combine specialized experience and education to meet the minimum qualifications. To qualify at the GS-09, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-07 level in federal service having demonstrated experience following standard protocols for developing mobile mapping applications for field data collection, developing recreation and lands cartographic products, and managing geospatial data based on defined protocols. OR You could otherwise qualify on the basis of Education having one year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement. You may combine specialized experience and education to meet the minimum qualifications. The superior academic achievement provision is to be used to determine eligibility for applicable GS-07 level positions of persons who have completed (or expect to complete within 9 months) all the requirements for bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a qualifying grade point average (GPA), class standing, or honors society. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including time-in-grade restrictions and any selective placement factors if applicable, by 06/04/2024.

Education
