This position is part of the Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board. The incumbent is the Deputy CIO and will be responsible for serving as the agency's senior expert and consultant on the design, development, and integration of information technology (IT) systems.
Duties
Serves as the agency's Deputy CIO managing, evaluating, and assessing agency IT resources.
Consultant to the Office of Administration on the design, development, and integration of information technology (IT) systems to meet CSB needs. Ensures that IT is acquired, and information resources are managed in compliance with Federal statutes.
Monitors and evaluates the performance of agency-wide IT projects and programs. Ensures procedures are established that measure technology's contribution to attaining the agency's mission. Ensures the adequacy of information security policies, procedures, and practices.
Translates sophisticated technical requirements into pragmatic and effective recommendations that focus on the use of information technology to maximize agency productivity and efficiency and increase access and availability of information to the general public.
Provide guidance, advice, and support on compliance with a range of information assurance requirements, such as continuity of operations (COOP)/disaster recovery.
Provides input to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of agency IT resources in support of its strategic mission. Reviews annual IT reports, strategic plans, and budget submissions. Evaluates metrics used to measure and evaluate systems' performance.

4. Problem Solving- Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Specialized Experience: In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below.
At the GS-14 level, you must meet the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes:
1. Serves as a lead or senior representative for high-visibility information technology projects.
2. Handles end-user IT support requests involving servers, network devices, end-user workstations, and other IT appliances.
3. Manages a cybersecurity program and system authorization lifecycle.
4. Conducts enterprise-wide IT systems security reviews, risk assessments, and/or evaluations to ensure compliance with security requirements per applicable regulations.
5. Brief technical and non-technical personnel on IT projects/assignments.
