Duties

Serves as the first line supervisor for the Auto Craft Shop directing the work of other Automotive Workers, who are responsible for performing automotive repairs as well as instruction to auto hobby shop patrons. Assists and instructs auto craft hobby patrons, usually on a one-on-one basis, in automotive maintenance repair. Demonstrates the use of shop tools and equipment required for job task and emphasizes safety practices. Assist with ordering of equipment and supplies necessary to the Auto Hobby/Care Operation. Provides accurate operational data and submits all related reports to supervisor.

Requirements

• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
• A one year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Exposed to drafts, noise, fumes, dirt and grease and automotive fluids that may cause irritation from chemicals.
• Required to follow safety procedures and use standard safety equipment such as gloves, ear protectors and safety glasses and exercise proper handling of equipment and hazardous materials to avoid serious injury in the work area.
• Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para2.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service, see www.sss.gov.
• Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.

Experience and training that provide the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position consistent with accepted practices of the trade. Ability to use and maintain appropriates tools and equipment. Ability to read, understand and apply instruction and other materials related to the job. Demonstrated ability to lead or supervise.
