You will serve as a HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRICIAN in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, UTILITIES AND ENVIRONMENTAL MAINTENANCE DIVISION of NAVAL FAC ENGINEERING CMD WASH.

Duties

You will complete routine installation, maintenance, and repairs on electric power control equipment, distribution lines, or electric-generating equipment. You will replace wiring, brushes, electrical connections, switchgear components and insulating parts as necessary. You will work from building plans and engineering drawings to repair existing electrical systems, controls, and equipment. You will troubleshoot power distribution systems in the event of a power outage.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Performs duties in construction, maintenance and repair of electrical distribution systems (overhead and underground) (120/208 to 34500 KV); 2) Performs work on highly complex system of electronic monitoring and control such as the powerlogic Supervisor Control Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, which uses special purpose dedicated computers. 3) Performs power quality analysis on electrical power systems using complex, micro-processing based analyzer/recorders that utilize analog-to-digital converters, differential-to-single ended converters and software generated programming for specific data acquisition and processing. 4) Manage the power distribution system using the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system and other related systesm.
