Duties
Assists in the development of program assessment and strategy.
Renders assistance with the planning and coordination of recurring and non-recurring services, special activities, and undertakings so as to make maximum use of available resources, professional, and support staff and other referral service entities.
Assists with the seeking and arranging of services needed to accomplish program goals and objectives.
Provides recommendations to the Agency Supervisory Social Worker for the type and delivery of services for the Social Service Program with established agency policies and objectives.
Assists with the development of budget analysis.
Operates the Financial Assistance and Social Services Case Management System.
Conducts monitored individual and two-party interviews with clients in order to determine general assistance eligibility.
Under the guidance of the Supervisory Social Worker, provides individualized case management services to Indian children and adults.
Assists with the continuous evaluation of the effectiveness of services by giving aid and support with the adaptation of varied program services.
Advocates for services for Program beneficiaries.

Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for GS-0186: Social Services Aid and Assistant Series)
GS-07: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-06 grade level (obtained in either the public or private sector). This experience is work involved in social welfare or employment and training programs; assistant to professional or associate staff engaged in work of a social services nature in private, public welfare, government program or community organizations or in voluntary services; employment guidance in a vocational or academic institution, social services of manpower development. These examples are not all inclusive (refer to the summary of duties for specialized experience)
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and is typically in or related to the position to be filled.
