About the Position: This position is located with MEDDAC, Operations and Training, Fort Carson, Colorado.
Duties
Perform administrative and office automation work, including word processing, data input, spreadsheet reviews and a variety of clerical functions in support of the organization’s mission and functions.
Provides expert advice and assistance to office staff regarding the presentation, publication and distribution of various documents with complex format and collation requirements.
Uploads data to a variety of systems that include but is not limited to: ATTAPS, DHRMSI, DTMS, DTS and Mass Notification.
Performs a variety of receptionist and other clerical and administrative functions, using judgment to answer recurring questions and resolve problems.
Greets and receives walk-in customers and telephone calls.
Maintains office files in accordance with governing regulatory procedures to include, purging, digitizing and retirement of files.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A National Agency Check w/ Inquiries (NACI) background investigation is required.
- This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations
- This is an Inclement Weather Essential position; you must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- Mission Essential: In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no position in the normal line of progression in the organization that is one grade lower than the position being filled. For outside applicants (i.e., those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service), 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower level (GS-06) is required.
Specialized Experience (External Candidates): One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience performing a wide variety of office administration support functions; operating and operator-level troubleshooting a computer and related equipment such as printers, copiers and scanners; selecting the most appropriate office automation to prepare reports, correspondence and spreadsheets; retrieving, manipulating and sorting electronic data; informing and instructing office personnel on proper procedures; and providing support functions such as reviewing timekeeping and payroll for accuracy and to resolve discrepancies.
Specialized Experience (Internal Candidates): One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes demonstrated experience preparing correspondence and reports; maintaining office files/records; using office automation software and/or systems.
This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
