About the Position: Serves as the Human Resources Assistant (Military) for the U. S. Army Garison Picatinny Arsenal Directorate of Human Resources. Advises the Director of Human Resources and the Garrison Command Group regarding military administrative matters.
Duties
Responsible maintaining personnel records, processing personnel actions, military finance assistance, preparing military awards, monitoring evaluations, preparing retirement packages and submitting requests to HR Command and the transition center
Acts as the subject matter expert for the Integrated Personnel and Pay System-Army (IPPS-A).
Plans, directs, coordinates, and reviews the activities of the Identification Card Issuing Facility.
Serves as the primary site security manager for the ID card facility.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) implementing military personnel policies; 2) using automated military personnel systems such as Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS); 2) processing a variety of military personnel actions; 3) issuing identification cards such as Common Access Cards (CAC) and/or Uniformed Services Identification Cards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
