THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED INDEFINITE SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC TITLE 32 INDEFINITE, Position Description Number D1063000 and is part of the NH ARNG DCSAV, National Guard. This vacancy is to gather applications that may or may not result in a referral or selection.

Duties

As a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC TITLE 32 INDEFINITE, WG-8852-12, you will act as the Aircraft Mechanic (Crew Chief) with responsibility for managing the operational readiness of one or more aircraft, and proficiency training of supported aviation unit personnel. Responsibilities include detailed technical oversight of individual aircraft's level of mission capabilities and projection of maintenance requirements to maintain individual aircraft operational readiness.

Requirements

  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.

  • This is an INDEFINITE excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required PRIOR to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade/rank listed in this announcement.

Qualifications

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an Title 32 Excepted Service position that requires military membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership in the military grade/rank listed in the announcement. Military Grades: E5 to E8 Selectee(s) must be within the military grade(s) listed in this job announcement prior to the effective date of placement into the technician position. Applicant(s) (Enlisted) who are over grade must clearly state, in their resumes, their intentions to willingly take a reduction in grade. Compatible Military Assignments: 15 CMF GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 18 months of experience and/or appropriate training in such functions as troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, servicing, inspecting, and modifying aircraft, aircraft installed equipment and related ground support equipment. Experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container. The incumbent must possess or be eligible for award of the appropriate security clearance for this position. The incumbent may be required for NGB Non-Aviator Flying Status and qualified for Class III flying duties.
