Duties
Supports select multi- Service/Agency programs managed at a regional or national level.
Provides, receives and analyzes Supplier Collaboration intelligence on DLA Direct and Customer Direct item.
Reviews individual items with unique characteristics, strategic value or complex problems.
Develops and compiles substantiating data in support of requests for additional funds in consideration of current market value, past procurement history, and increased requirements.
Ensures updates are made to the Time Phased Inventory Plan (TPIP) master data and planning rules, calculates planning parameters (e.g., lead-time, safety stock), generates exceptions, and modifies the TPIP.
Applies strategies for allocation, systemically generates the planned orders and planned arrivals.
Ensures the candidate list of items is current and/or accurate for the disposal/retention process, and updates distribution network model.
Acts as a Senior Materiel Planner to review recommendations that are made by lower grade Materiel Planners that are used to create the supply plan for simple to moderately complex items.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Inventory Management Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
- Working with the laws, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to supply and inventory management.
- Applying knowledge of the supply planning process and technical support to functional areas engaging in DOD product line acquisition management and logistics support.
- Independently analyzing and resolving difficult inventory management issues and problems for highly complex, strategic and unique end-item programs.
- Analyzing work that relates to managing and controlling materials and the underlying concepts for coordinating, determining and regulating the flow of supplies form initial plan through acquisition, storage, issue, utilization and disposal.
- Utilizing program milestone charting, forecasting and the ability to effectively research/analyze various documents and statistics as well as synthesize complex relatable data.
- Evaluating techniques utilized for inventory management to analyze and evaluate a broad range of variables.

Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
