About the position: This position will be assigned to Outdoor Recreation on Holloman AFB, NM. The incumbent will work days and evenings, Monday through Friday with occasional weekends. Military Spouse Preference is not lost if selected for this position. This is a temporary position, Not to Exceed 30-SEP-2024

Duties

The primary purpose of this position is to observe swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, ocean conditions of rough water or hazards, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail. When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards. Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made. May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements

• This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
• This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

Must have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures. Skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable.
