Duties
You will ensure that workload is balanced at the fire/rescue scene or in the station.
You will perform special assignments/projects as required by the supervisor.
You will prepare reports for the supervisor concerning fire runs, training, maintenance, inspections, or other topics.
You will direct assigned crew in the performance of crash and rescue assistance, firefighting, performance of basic life support, and properly assessing and analyzing HAZMAT incidents.
You will assist in the development of special protective services for structures imposing extreme hazards.

- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain current Firefighter I and II, Fire Officer I, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, Airport Firefighter, Driver-Operator Pumper, ARFF, HAZMAT Tech, and NEMT certifications.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Operating firefighter vehicles and associated equipment; 2) Combating fires and/or rescuing personnel; 3) Performing emergency first aid techniques; 4) Directing the operation of firefighting vehicles and associated equipment; and 5) Inspecting facilities and determining the layouts for the operation of alarm/suppression control panels, hydrants, utility shutoffs, and suppression systems.
