About the Position: The U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command, with headquarters in North Chicago, IL, is a jointly staffed command and is staffed by representatives of all branches of the Armed Forces. The command, through its 67 military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS), determines whether applicants are qualified for enlistment based on standards set by each of the services. This position will be filled on a permanent basis.

Duties

Enters validated test scores into an automated accession reporting system. Ensures testing interrupted by network issues is completed. Oversees the use of automated scoring equipment. Ensures secure score transmittal procedures are in place when automated testing or scoring equipment is used. Conducts enlistment and special purpose testing. Provides training on proper test score data entry. Conducts orientation briefings on testing policies and procedures. Updates Service Recruiting Liaisons on the status of applicants whose test records are on hold. Ensures supporting documents are present and completed properly. Assists with submitting exceptions to policy. Provides justification requests for change of test scores. Reports and/or investigates incidents of test loss/compromise. Resolves test scoring automation issues, requesting assistance from higher headquarters when necessary. Provides recommendations to the Test Control Officer on issues such as policies, procedures, and potential security threats. Oversees test security procedures, to include control and storage. Inventories accountable test material, to include receipt, transfer, and destruction.

Requirements

  • Frequent local travel and occasional TDY required.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has been designated as non-sensitive and requires a personnel security background check.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state issued or US territory issued driver's license.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work regular evening and weekend work as required.

Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, such as instructing applicants on testing procedures, ensuring the safety of testing materials in accordance with regulation, distributing or collecting test material, conducting quality control checks to ensure testing material is properly completed, and/or monitoring applicants or students to detect cheating.The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience for GS-06: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, such as performing data entry of results into an automated system, reviewing records to ensure they are accurate and complete, conducting inventories of controlled materials, and/or preparing reports for management on status of assigned programs. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). . Specialized Experience for GS-07: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, such as maintaining all accountable test material for the organization, responding to inquiries from both internal and external customers, briefing applicants on testing procedures, and/or inputting test results into an automated accession reporting system.The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). For the GS-06 and GS-07 positions, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement for GS-07: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
