Duties
You will serve as a CERTIFIED ATHLETIC TRAINER in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group (EODGRU) TWO “STRIKE” Force Resiliency Program (FRP) at EODGRU TWO, Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek FT Story, Virginia Beach, VA.
You will provide professional and FRP content advice necessary to promote goals associated with the training of EOD technicians, Navy Divers and support personnel.
You will provide musculoskeletal injury assessment and treatment.
You will provide emergency first aid, evaluation and treatment of injuries.
You will document all assessments, treatments and follow-up care.
Requirements

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to maintain a current national Athletic Trainer’s Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) certification.
- You will be required to maintain a current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support Health Care provider, CPR and AED certification.
Qualifications
BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position (Athletic Training or equivalent). This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
EXPERIENCE:
In addition to the basic education requirement stated above, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
Experience serving as a consultant and practitioner for a comprehensive program of musculoskeletal injury prevention and care for Explosive Ordnance Technicians and Navy Divers.
Experience providing prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries sustained during rigorous military training
Experience providing musculoskeletal injury assessment and treatment by including: Progressive Resistance Exercise (PRE), Open and Closed Chain Kinetic Exercises, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), manual therapy and joint mobilization, hydrotherapy, cryotherapy, ultrasound, iontophoresis, and all varieties of muscle stimulation.
Experience providing injury prevention instruction to FRP participants, ensure the training facilities and equipment are in place to minimize injury risk, and analyze injury patterns and provide controls in response to injury pattern changes.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: In addition to the education requirement stated above. Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position:
3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.
