About the Position: This position is located at Kirk U.S. Army Health Clinic on Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. You will work as a member of our Patient Administration Department (PAD) to support our amazing beneficiaries!
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
Duties
Receive and process requests for the release of information in compliance with HIPAA.
Validate medical information from clinical and outpatient records.
Maintain a log for all records requested and transferred from and to other facilities.
Ensure checks received from requestors are collected and sent into the Third Party Collections on a daily basis.
Process requests for medical records from other Military Treatment Facilities or other outside hospitals and clinics.
Prepare variety of materials by utilizing various computer programs wherein the work requires competitive level proficiency in typing as well as knowledge of office hardware and software systems.
Responsible for proper spelling, grammar, format, and arrangement of material.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination.
- This position requires the employee to occasionally travel (no more than 5% of the time, in the most expedient manner) away from the normal duty station.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing office software such as (Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point) to create and manipulate documents/spreadsheets; composing and processing correspondence for medical record request; and retrieving medical information from Electronic Health Records Systems such as MHS Genesis. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in federal service (GS-05)
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
