Duties

You will serve as senior training instructor/coordinator and subject matter expert and resources in the instructional areas of force protection, law enforcement, anti-terrorism, search and seizure, basic criminology, investigations, etc. You will facilitate classroom studies and instruction on practical use of law enforcement equipment and techniques. You will test law enforcement personnel on weapons proficiency in meeting specific jurisdiction requirements. You will administer day-to-day technical and administrative guidance on police, security, and law enforcement functions. You will advise, council, and instruct subordinates on work and administrative matters.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities as they relate to this position. Therefore, we encourage you to be clear and specific when describing your experience. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing course material, additions, revisions, deletions, and/or written evaluations for multiple instructional areas including force protection, law enforcement, and antiterrorism; 2) Providing classroom, field, and on-the-job training on law enforcement equipment, techniques, and firearms; 3) Analyzing officer and organizational training deficiencies to identify areas for curriculum improvement; 4) Performing the full range of supervisory duties for subordinates (i.e. making personnel decisions, reviewing work performance, identifying training needs, promoting EEO policies, etc.).
