You will serve as a SHEET METAL MECHANIC LEADER in the MARINE DEPOT MAINTENANCE COMMAND, TRADES DIVISION, of MARINE CORPS LOGISTICS COMAND.
Duties
You will ensure the use of proper documentation, PPE, use of correct manuals, drawings, schematics, engineering process instructions, and determination of correct revisions and/or changes.
You will perform duties as the working leader for other journeymen, workers, and helpers, setting the pace, assigning work, maintaining that employees have enough work, answering questions, and demonstrating proper work methods and procedures.
You will coordinate with supervisors, report status and progress of work and causes for delays to supervisors, answer's supervisors questions, pass on instructions to other employees from supervisors, and act in the absence of the supervisor.
You will enter all required data and information into systems, databases, and/or forms as directed by local policy and procedures, taking action to ensure that data and information is entered in timely and accurate fashion.
You will assure that safety and house keeping rules are followed (e.g. assuring that limits of safe machine operation are not exceeded, assuring that tools are used properly, assuring that PPE is work as required and used properly, etc.)
You will use inspection equipment, complete and sign inspection reports, perform and witness tests, inspect the repair of sheet metal components fabricated, ensuring that product and workmanship meet all stated requirements.
You will report to supervisors of work delays and shortages, report errors or omissions in work orders, and ensure that defects and/or discrepancies are notes and reported in accordance with local procedures.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You are required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
