Duties
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for all acquisitions of goods and services necessary in the performance of legal work, as well as procurement of supplies, furniture, and office equipment in the Contracting Unit with the United States Attorney's Office, Southern District of New York. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Assembling, organizing, maintaining, and tracking the status of requisitions and orders using a database, a manual filing system, or through vendors.
Preparing and reviewing purchase documents and invoices to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Communicating with vendors to determine product and service availability.
Reconciling issues related to outstanding invoices, late payments, and other order status.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
The salary range for a GS-5 is $46,494 - $60,439; for a GS-6 is $51,829 - $67,379; for a GS-7 is $57,594 - $74,874. A new GS employee is usually hired at step one of the applicable GS grade.
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
Qualifications
Specialized experience for the GS-05: To be qualified at the GS-05 grade level you must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in Federal service. Specialized experience involved performing the following types of duties: assisting with preparing, verifying and closing out procurement records; assembling contract file information; and entering data into a database.
OR
Education: 4 years above high school (Note: Education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college on university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.)
OR
Combination of Education and experience. (Note: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.)
Specialized experience for the GS-06: To be qualified at the GS-06 grade level you must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in Federal service. Specialized experience involved performing the following types of duties: preparing, verifying, and closing out procurement records; monitoring contract funds and requesting amendments for obligations; and maintaining a contract database.
Specialized experience for the GS-07: To be qualified at the GS-07 grade level you must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 in Federal Service. Specialized experience involved performing the following types of duties: preparing, verifying, and closing out procurement records; monitoring contract funds and requesting amendments for obligations; maintaining a contract database; tracking the status of requisitions, contracts and orders; and, reviewing invoices or contract files for inclusion of specifications for accuracy and compliance.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. Education
