About the Position: Facility is located at 3423 Tennessee Ave, JBA, MD 20762. Office hours are Mon - Fri, 0730-1630. The facility has 6 offices (including the secretary office), a cubicle area with 18 desks, 3 equipment rooms, a conference room, break room, outdoor area with a picnic table and adjacent parking lot. The applicant will utilize interpersonal skills with staff and customers during in-person, phone and electronic communications.

Duties

Prepares a wide variety of recurring and some nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents and reviews and finalizes correspondence/documents prepared by others in handwritten or electronic drafts. Reviews correspondence for procedural and grammatical accuracy, conformance with general policy, and factual correctness. Receives telephone calls, greets visitors, and ascertains the nature of the calls or visits. Maintains supervisor's calendar, coordinates meeting arrangements, and schedules meetings and/or conferences. Uses multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents. Establishes, maintains, purges, and disposes of office records/files in accordance with regulations and procedures. Makes travel arrangements.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing
  • Temporary duty travel may be required 5%
  • This position MAY require that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • A fully qualified typist is required.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalComputer SkillsPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).
