DON Pathways Internship Program You will serve as a Student Trainee (Office Automation) in the Business Office of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING GROTON. ***This Job Opportunity Announcement is using an additional online assessment tool to evaluate applicants. Duties

You will create, copy, edit, calculate, revise, retrieve, store and print a wide range of documents in final form (i.e. correspondence, reports, statistics, mailing labels, etc.) to produce these documents. You will respond to routine and non-technical requests for information such as status reports, suspense dates for matters requiring compliance, and similar information readily available from files. You will receive incoming correspondence, screening material prior to distribution for suspense dates, and establishing controls and following up for supervisor. You will review correspondence prepared for the supervisor. You will check for spelling, typographical errors, conformance to format and procedural requirements. You will perform a variety of administrative support duties, such as composing complex but non-technical correspondence, and locate and assemble information for various reports, briefings, conferences, etc. You will organize filing systems, plan and arrange the maintenance and preparation of information needed for reports, and organize the flow of clerical processes in the office. You will type narrative and tabular material, such as memoranda, correspondence and reports from rough draft or revised typed draft. You will type in accordance with Navy correspondence manual and other applicable guidance for review by originators. You will reschedule appointments upon request of supervisor or staff members. You will maintain and replenish office supplies, equipment, and publications as needed.

Requirements

Qualifications

Your resume/transcripts must demonstrate completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
