Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Program Specialist, you will use your knowledge and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by: Developing, initiating, coordinating, and managing internal procedures relating to cross-cutting activities including regional implementation strategies, analysis of program data, workload control and mechanisms for reporting on program activities, trends and issues. Developing recommendations for modifying, revising, or implementing procedures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of program operations. Participating in meetings with senior analysts and managers in developing strategies to improve collaborations. Developing recommendations for implementing new strategies or initiatives that include performance-based outcomes. Serving as project leader on special short-term projects and cross-cutting initiatives.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications You must meet one of the items listed below (A, B, or C): A. Possess a degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position (Must provide transcripts). B. Possess a combination of education and experience -- that provided you with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field (Must provide transcript). C. Possess four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. AND Minimum Qualifications You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing at least three (3) of the following: Conducting and evaluating research related to employment and training programs and their intersections with other social service programs. Participating in committees and working groups related to employment and training and economic mobility. Conducting research activities including surveys, interviews, and case studies to inform decisions about policy development related to workforce employment and training programs. Preparing written material to support and promote program initiatives and priorities. Documenting experience: IN DESCRIBING YOUR EXPERIENCE, PLEASE BE CLEAR AND SPECIFIC. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
