As a purchasing technician, you will work with the Supervisory Procurement Support Specialist over the Procurement Section to provide support and facilitate procurement office operations. You will purchase specific commodities or services for the National Centers for Animal Health (NCAH) which has a national and international impact.
Duties
The duties may include, but are not limited to:
Conducts micro purchasing for supplies and services and other simplified purchasing procedures of the Federal Acquisition Regulations.
Serves as primary requisition contact for Diagnostics and Biologics utilizing Integrated Acquisition System.
Works with customers to establish Requisitions Package by obtaining required documentation to include sole source justifications.
Assist in tracking expenditures, maintaining and creating balance sheets, and creating closeouts.
Coordinates discrepancies with Budget unit to maintain data integrity and appropriate expenditures are aligned.
Maintains proficiency with purchasing software.
Completes procurement transactions by receipting all purchase orders; verifying information on packing slip with purchase order.
Monitors unliquidated obligations and, when needed, researches status through contacting the vendor, and the Contracting Officer's Representative.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.

- This work is performed in an office environment and is moderately sedentary, but does require some walking, standing, bending, and some light lifting.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
FOR THE GS-06 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
Procuring goods or services using a purchase card.
Utilizing purchasing software.
Keeping electronic records (storing, retrieving and researching data).
Operating a personal computer and related equipment.
Managing and completing a variety of tasks and adjust to frequently changing priorities/deadlines.
Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
