About the Position: This position is located at Madigan Army Medical Center in Washington.
Duties
Conduct individual and group counseling sessions for at-risk behavioral health patients in an outpatient setting under the supervision of assigned program privileged providers.
Provide administrative support to the assigned program to include monitoring patient enrollment and participation and maintaining patient accountability and training.
Collect and record psychosocial data.
Assist with direct treatment and management of behavioral health patients with a variety of complex behavioral health problems.
Complete behavioral health assessments.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 10 lbs. in the regular performance of duties
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

Basic Requirements for a Psychology Technician:
Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating behavioral health clients to determine required services, providing counseling services, and maintaining client files. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Psychology, Human Services, Child & Family Welfare, Counseling (ex. crisis, substance abuse, mental health, chemical dependence), Family and Community Services, Behavioral Science, Human Development, Social Work, Sociology, Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, or related field of study.

Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
