About the Position: This position falls under the Defense Health Agency Tidewater Market, 633RD Medical Group, Clinical Laboratory, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, performing a variety of receptionist, record keeping, and miscellaneous administrative support work associated with the care and services provided in medical wards, clinics, or other such departments of a medical facility.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
Duties
Perform medical records, administrative and clerical duties in support of the medical facility.
Receive and direct telephone calls, messages, and patients/visitors.
Use multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents, formats, etc.
Use word-processing software to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve, and print forms, memos, and letters.
Use existing database or spreadsheet software to create, enter, revise, sort or calculate, and retrieve data for reports; and uses graphic software to provide graphs and charts for reports and presentations.
Establish and maintain office records and information files of various types that may be needed or will assist in the efficient operation of the facility.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Qualified typist is required. The incumbent must have the ability to type a minimum of 40 WPM.
- Position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
- Required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as, receiving calls and visitors, scheduling appointments, filing records, and providing instructions to patients in a medical treatment facility or clinical setting.

Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
