This position is located at the Crow/Northern Cheyenne Service Unit, Division of Clinical Services in the Primary Care Department in Crow Agency, MT. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the sole Sonographer by performing all types of elective and emergency adult and pediatric normal ultrasound studies to maintain optimal patient care. A housing subsidy of up to $602 per pay period without dependents or $746 per pay period with dependents may be available.

Duties

Perform a wide variety of complex ultrasound examinations of human subjects to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease or injury. Select, set up, adjust, and operate ultrasound equipment. Receive and review requests from physicians and other healthcare providers for ultrasound examination of patients. Determine the condition(s) at issue and the procedures and equipment necessary to best meet the needs of the individual case.

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Medical Instrument Technician Series 0649 (opm.gov) In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-07) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Receive request for procedure or treatment; interpret physician's requests or instructions; set controls and operate the equipment to get test or treatment results. Clean and sterilize instruments and conduct routing maintenance and adjustment checks. Instruct other technicians, physicians, nurses and others in the use of the equipment. Decide how to adapt the instrument to the patient based on information gained through previous experience, observation, and results. Provide diagnostic or treatment services to acutely ill patients. Must be certified in American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in sonography or vasculary sonography. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
