This position is assigned to the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Dept; Commander Navy Installations Command (CNIC). Incumbent serves in a support capacity and may perform any or all of the following duties within the following sections Fitness, Sports or Aquatics Support. The primary function of the position is to ensure proper usage of the facility, assist in the operation of the recreation activity and provide collection and disposition of revenues generated at the assigned facility.

  • Must have flexible availability during operational hours as follows: Mon- Friday 0445-1915, Sat, Sun, and Holidays 0745-1815
  • Must have current, accredited NCCA/DECA Personal Trainer or Group Fitness certification to be considered. PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION MUST BE UPLOADED WITH YOUR APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Must pass all applicable records and background check.
  • This position has a base salary of $16.00 per hour. If/when performing Personal Training duties, the pay rate is $17.00 per hour, and for Certified group training duties, the pay rate is $19.00 per hour.

Qualifications

NCCA/ DECA PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION IN PERSONAL TRAINING, OR GROUP FITNESS, IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION. CERTIFICATION MUST BE ATTACHED TO APPLICATION UPON SUBMISSION, OR APPLICANT CANNOT BE REFERRED TO HIRING MANAGER FOR CONSIDERATION. In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Government positions must include pay plan, series, grade, to and from dates and address of the agency/organization. One year of specialized experience directly related to the duties described above. Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Knowledge of MWR policies, rules and res involving the work area. Knowledge of basic arithmetic to compute charges, disperse change accurately, and prepare reports. Knowledge of cash handling experience. Knowledge of basic fitness, aquatics and sports principles. Knowledge of safe use and operation of fitness equipment. Skill in use of Microsoft Office programs. Skill and ability to provide fitness aquatics and sports training. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
