The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Major Command (MAJCOM) Mission Assurance program manager carrying out projects and coordinating all requirements in support of Antiterrorism, Force Protection, and the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Defense Critical Infrastructure Program (AT/FP/DCIP); to protect U.S. Air Force resources and Special Operations Forces (SOF) unique assets.
Duties
Develops and manages MAJCOM level Mission Assurance (MA) programs and policies
Serves as the technical authority on matters involving AT, FP, and DCIP issues affecting both AF and SOF resources and personnel
Plans, conducts, conducts, and coordinates on site security studies, projects, assessments, and training activities in relationship to antiterrorism and force protection requirements
Represents the MAJCOM at conferences, workshops, working-groups, and meetings

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes 1) knowledge of the laws, regulations, policies, standards, procedures, methods, and techniques applicable to a broad range of requirements sufficient to plan, direct, coordinate, and evaluate diverse command AT/FP/DCIP programs, and advise key managerial personnel on courses of action affecting capabilities and effectiveness, to include facilities, work operations and processes which impact the assigned programs; 2) Knowledge of wide range of security specialties to include physical, personal, and operational security to identify and resolve conflicting and complex policy and program objectives, and procedures within the security functional area; 3) Skill to undertake long-range studies, projects, or forecasts independently as a member of a group, or as the organizer and lead; to enhance security systems efficiency or influencing future security planning, policies, and program ; 4) Knowledge of psychological factors sufficient to conduct a wide variety of activities promoting secure practices and proper operations; 4) In-depth knowledge of agency security policy requirements and procedures to provide recommendations for making key decisions and policy supplements that impact short and long term security planning; and 5) In-depth knowledge of the overall command and AFSOC Security Forces missions, functions and structures to ensure effective implementation of assigned programs, plans, and policies.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. In-depth knowledge of a broad range of physical security methods, concepts, principles and practices to plan and implement a major command security program for the protection of sensitive or classified information, personnel, facilities, installations, or other sensitive materials, resources, or processes against criminal, terrorist, or hostile intelligence activities.
2. In-depth knowledge of security forces standards, safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of issues or problems concerning efficiency and effectiveness of program operations.
4. Skill in communicating with others in a courteous, tactful, and diplomatic manner to gain their cooperation in achieving goals.
5. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, and procedures to develop security education programs, provide training, and assist in operating security programs.
6. Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
