This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.
It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA-PACIFIC (PC42).
Duties
Applies technical knowledge and skill to include enterprise network architecture, infrastructure, and standards.
Develops, interprets, plans, and applies policy, process, procedure, and strategy in the delivery of multi-discipline IT networking services required to achieve data and system integration/interoperability for assigned systems and applications.
Applies a mastery level of IT networking principles, concepts, methods, and practices.
Prepares and presents cogent and cohesive analyses and briefings advising DoD and DISA management leadership on new technological developments, techniques, and enhancements.
Develops project plans and oversees the implementation of project activities.
Heterogeneous networked environments and internetworking techniques to plan, design, manage and enhance highly efficient network systems.
Interrelationships of multiple IT disciplines and systems development principles and approaches to lead IT systems development projects from design to support.
IT principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices, sufficient to develop and interpret policies, procedures, and strategies governing the planning and delivery of services throughout the agency.
Computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.

For the Computer Engineer GG-0854 and Electronics Engineer GG-0855 Series
A. Degree: professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following:

Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.
For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience planning, engineering, project management, or operating IT/Telecommunications systems in one or more of the following technologies: Internet Protocol / Multiprotocol Label Switching (IP/MPLS), Optical Transport Systems, fiber optic transmission systems, submarine cable system, or Satellite Communications (SATCOM)..
