About the Position: The position is located at the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCoE), Ft. Moore, Georgia 31905. The "Maneuver Center of Excellence" is located 100 miles south of Atlanta and is adjacent to Columbus, Georgia and Phenix City, Alabama. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Public transportation and free parking is available.

Duties

Apply educational theories, principles, techniques, and concepts in the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of staff and faculty development courses and programs. Provide assistance to supervisors, training developers, instructors, and subject matter experts concerning the analysis, design, development, and evaluation of instructional materials and personnel. Participate in seminars, meetings, and conferences as required to maintain currency in educational and training research and technology. Analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate Staff and Faculty Development courseware using the most current educational methodologies and concepts disseminated from the Department of the Army, TRADOC and locally generated.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires occasional Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel.

Basic Requirements: Degree: that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the work of the position to be filled. The course work must have included study in at least four of the following five areas: Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material. Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness. Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments. Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training. Computers in education and training: Study of the application of computers in education and training, including selecting appropriate computer software. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes teaching instructional topics to various audiences using adult learning principles, developing courseware using the most current educational methodologies and concepts and designing parameters and operational requirements for performing course development tasks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Instructional DesignInstructional Materials & Curriculum DevelopmentInstructional Program EvaluationTests and Measurement Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
