About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the National Ground Intelligence Center, Information Technology Directorate, Cyber Security Office, Charlottesville, VA 22911.

Duties

Information Assurance Security Officer (IASO) responsible for security analyses, security engineering, and security countermeasures to protect NGIC Information Systems (IS). Analyzes, implements, and maintains procedures and security requirements for NGIC systems and processing networks at sensitivity levels of information. Ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through testing and analyzing of information systems security profiles and related security programs, policies, procedures, and tools. Conducts systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews. Serves as test director during system and/or network certification and accreditation processes. Performs in-depth technical reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of complex contractor-operated automated information systems and networks to include the evaluation of security safeguards. Reviews emerging technologies for Center application, architectural compliance, and performance characteristics.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG/GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes [insert examples of specialized experience in proxy and edge device configuration and log analysis as well as automated audit and logging consolidation tools as well as experience in digital forensic evidence gathering and preservation. Experience with Cyberesecurity administrative review of DoD host intrustion prevention and host intrustion detection compliance tools and logging. For this position, individuals must also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
