Duties

NIMHD Recruiting Supervisory Health Scientist Administrator-GS-15 (Director), Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Health Research Office The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) is seeking an exceptional candidate for a full-time position to serve as Director of the newly created Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI) Health Research Office. The Director of the NHPI Health Research Office is a supervisory position to set up the strategic vision for the new office who will provide senior-level expertise, advice, leadership and counsel on the management and administration of research programs and other activities addressing NHPI health and health disparities. Candidates are expected to have strong scientific expertise in leading research that expands the understanding of the health characteristics of racial and ethnic minority populations with health disparities and/or improving minority health and reducing health disparities. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent communication skills, with expertise and familiarity with NIH research grant funding related to NHPI health. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in research, training and building community-academic partnership focused on Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander health to lead the NHPI Health Research Office, in partnership with other NIMHD extramural divisions. Because of the cross-cutting mission of NIMHD, candidates to this position are expected to embrace and champion scientific areas within the NHPI Health Research Office scope of work and beyond their area(s) of interest and with other NIH institutes.
