Training Technicians provide administrative support to Training Specialists as well as being a source for other agency employees with tasks such as; training programs, administrative functions, and a wide variety of non-technical projects.
Duties
The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.
The duties may include, but are not limited to:
Assists with designing, developing, revising, and printing of instructional materials, e.g., tests, case studies, practice exercises, course handbooks, etc.
Prepares, types, formats, proofreads, and edits instructional materials, reports, letters, memoranda, and other general correspondence.
Plans, organizes, and coordinates the use of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Job Aids for the efficient and effective management of courses/sessions.
Recommends improvements to survey items, tests, and other instructional materials to ensure maximum clarity and overall quality.
Constructs simple data collection instructions.
Reviews, tabulates, and summarizes data collected from various evaluation instruments, to formulate recommendations for improving training.
Develops and distributes a wide variety of training information.
Works closely with staff to coordinate the scheduling and logistics of training and other development-related programs and activities.
Requirements

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
TIME-IN-GRADE: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
FOR THE GS-06 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
Participate with the development, planning, and arranging of training programs.
Assisting with determining employee training needs and scheduling of training for employees.
Researching and compiles data for recurring and special reports.
Applying distance learning concepts and technologies to provide support for synchronous or asynchronous instruction.
Retrieving learning management system data to generate reports.
Proofreading correspondence and reports to ensure conformance with standards or manuals.
Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
