This position is located within a National Interagency Support Cache (NISC).
This position serves as Assistant to the Cache Manager of a Type 2 National Interagency Support Cache (NISC) directing and managing procurement, storage, refurbishment and shipment of equipment and supplies in support of natural disasters.

Duties
Serves as an Assistant to the Cache Manager of a Type 2 National Interagency Support Cache (NISC), performing supervisory duties 20% or less of the time.
Plans the work to be accomplished by the unit, assigns work to employees, and establishes production or quality standards for the unit’s work.
Establishes and communicates guidelines and performance requirements to employees; conducts formal performance reviews; and identifies and provides for the developmental and training needs of employees.

Assists in the development and maintenance of fire cache management and incident support policies, guidelines, and standards.
Coordinates on-going emergency situations and establishes levels of personnel and equipment.
Maintains accountability for inventory management and storage, packaging and shipment, and the refurbishment, repair, and restocking of equipment returned.
Recommends changes in supply programs in accordance with operational needs, and implements restocking supply levels to meet supply demands.
Prepares accurate records of work completed, materials used, and costs involved with established management and inventory plans.
Implements the operational application, utilization, and information integrity of an automated inventory system.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
GS-09: Applicants must have one (1) year equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as three or more of the following: Assisting in the coordination of emergency situations and establishing levels of personnel and equipment needed to meet the support needs of an incident; and/or Implementing restocking supply levels to meet supply demands; and/or Preparing initial records of work completed, materials used, and costs involved with established fire cache management and inventory plans; and/or Participating in implementing security and accountability measures for all supplies and equipment; and/or Implementing the operational application, utilization, and information integrity of an automated inventory system.
OR
A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
OR
An appropriate combination of specialized experience and education (only graduate education in excess of 18 semester hours may be used to qualify applicants for this grade level).
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
