Duties
The selectee will be working at the Palisades Field Station, Black Canyon or Anderson Ranch with other staff to accomplish overall operation of power and water systems performing the following duties:
Start, stop and control hydroelectric generating units, operate water release equipment, and switchyard equipment, manually and with SCADA control, and respond to emergencies as needed.
Prepare turbines for operation, manually or automatically, synchronizing the generators into the electrical system and adjusting the load, voltage, and accessory regulating equipment as required.
Operate electrical breakers in an 115kv switchyard, power transformers, station accessory and auxiliary electrical systems, excitation systems and emergency generators. Operate unit governors, and all mechanical equipment used to generate electricity or provide power plant/facility support.
Maintain desired river flows and ensure water orders are executed properly. Maintain the daily operation log. Prepare reports on power generation, river flows, water storage, generator maintenance and availability time, performance benchmark data, and outages using computer spreadsheets.
Perform or direct switching and other required operations in accordance with standard operating procedures and the Hazardous Energy Control Program. Responsible for writing, issuing, and receiving clearances, hot line orders, special conditions, and interconnected system clearances.
Maintain facility clearance and lockout procedure database, clearance log book, and history files. Instruct and certify other facility and office personnel in safe clearance procedures and the Hazardous Energy Control Program.
