Duties

This position is located within the Director’s Office, Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), at the Central Office in Washington, DC. Involved in developing, analyzing, evaluating, and advising management on improving the effectiveness of work methods, organization, and procedures; establishment of management controls; and development of information and documentation systems. Provides analytical and consultative services to management to ensure strategic alignment of programs, services, and polices with the Bureau’s mission, goal, and objectives. Assists in the planning, evaluating, and development of policies to be implemented Bureau-wide. Plans, develops, researches, and conducts internal review studies on the BOP tracking systems, programs, and policies. Routinely gathers statistical data, analyzes audit findings to determine deficiencies or anomalies in program areas such as adherence to response time, completion ratio, and compliance to objectives, and reports status, making recommendations for changes when necessary.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. Graduate education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. GS-12:There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. OR Experience: GS-11 and GS-12: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: GS-11: Experience gathering and analyzing programmatic information and preparing reports. Experience in proofreading, correcting, and completing clear and concise documents utilizing computer software programs. Experience inputting data into various spreadsheets and databases for further analysis by management. GS-12: Experience with conducting evaluations, identifying problems, and reviewing of plans, policies, and program statements. Experience with analyzing and responding to both urgent and non-urgent reporting requests, coordinating with the respective Division, Branch, and Section Chiefs to meet specific requirements. Experience with dealing effectively with others. OR Combination of Education and Experience: GS-11: Have a combination of education and experience. This experience must have equipped you with the qualifications necessary to perform the major duties of this position as described above. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities. **Your eligibility for consideration will be based on your responses to the questions in the application.**
