You will serve as a POLICE OFFICER in the Operations Section of the Provost Marshal Office/Marine Corps Police Dept. of Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center.
Duties
You will respond to emergency calls, complaints, and other calls for service during the watch.
You will perform motorized or walking patrols of the installation.
You will conduct preliminary and non-criminal investigations ranging from minor incidents to more complex and serious incidents.
You will subdue and disarm those who are doing violence to other persons.
You will set up and conduct checkpoints/ roadblocks at various locations throughout the installation.
You will perform traffic law control and enforcement using specialized equipment.
You will take witness statements, gather information and facts and prepare detailed reports.
You will issue citations for violations of laws and regulations.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Employees are subjected to a pre-employment background check and ongoing background checks to affirm employability as a Police Officer.

- The DON does not employ individuals for Law Enforcement Officer positions who have been convicted of a crime of domestic violence on or after 27 November 2002. You must submit DD Form 2760, Qualification to Possess Firearms before appointment.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. Must pass a sanctioned physical agility test and medical evaluation and pass periodic retests as required.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license and be able to maintain a U.S. Government emergency vehicle operator's license.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
- You must have reached your 18th birthday prior to appointment.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Employee is required to wear an assigned uniform and display official designated items or accessories to include additional required equipment. The employee must follow and adhere to applicable grooming standards for the installation.
Qualifications
GS-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least six months of general experience that includes experience in administrative, clerical, technical, or military work that involved protecting property, equipment, data, or materials; or that involved making judgements based on the application of directions, rules, regulations, or laws; AND six months of specialized experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property.
GS-03: Your resume must demonstrate at least six months of general experience that includes experience in administrative, clerical, technical, or military work that involved protecting property, equipment, data, or materials; or that involved making judgements based on the application of directions, rules, regulations, or laws.

Education
You may also qualify based on education OR combination of education and experience, in lieu of the one year specialized experience listed above, through ONE of the following:
Substitution of education for experience GS-04: Successfully completed two years of study at an accredited school above high school level with at least 12 semester hours in police administration, police law and evidence, police investigation, criminology, law enforcement, general law, or similar subjects closely related to police work. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
Substitution of education for experience GS-03: Successfully completed one year of study at an accredited school above high school with at least 6 semester hours of study pertinent to police work. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
Combination of education and experience GS-04 and GS-03: A combination of general/specialized experience and education that equates to one year of experience. Percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal 100 percent.
