This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located at Fort Hood, Texas in the Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU). A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Student Loan repayment may be authorized.

Duties

Manage the SRU Soldier's recovery care plan to safely enhance the medical recovery plan. Provide key input during the Soldier's interdisciplinary team by attending meetings focused on the recovery plan. Provide a wide array of outpatient and inpatient services to include consultative support to other hospital clinics, DHA activities, and community agencies. Provide routine, complex and emergency intakes and extended evaluations for a variety of disorders. Coordinate Quality Assurance (QA) and Risk Management issues with Army Recovery Care Program (ARCP).

Requirements

• Position may be designated as Emergency Essential.
• You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
• Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
• Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
• Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
• May include shift work (evenings, weekends, holidays).
• May require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).
• This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
• Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
• Position may require employee to wear a uniform and/or protective clothing.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Basic Requirement for Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner): Degree: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Positions: A graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program in the area of Family Practice. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination and possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition, applicants must possess licensure or registration by a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States in the clinical specialty of Family Practice. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Experience: at least one year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Assessing community and patient population needs, mission requirements, and services resources to plan, implement, and provide a wide array of outpatient and inpatient services; 2) Providing routine, complex and emergency intakes and extended evaluations for a variety of disorders; 3) Performing medical evaluation pertinent to the assessment and diagnosis of a variety of disorders, and requesting appropriate laboratory, EKG, imaging, and psychological evaluations as required; 4) Conducting comprehensive review of medical records and orders; interpreting diagnostic tests, x-rays, and ancillary tests; and arranging for other medical specialty consultation. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
