This position is located in the Office of Minority and Women Inclusion, Headquarters Office of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support in the area of sign language interpretation for FDIC employees, applicants and visitors.

Qualifications
Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional qualifications information can be found here.
CG-09: To qualify, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-07 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as experience:
• Utilizing oral forms of communication to provide communication access for deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals.; AND
• Interpreting and transliterating from American Sign Language (ASL), Pidgin Signed English (PSE), Contact Variety Sign (CVS), and/or Manually Coded English (MCE) to English and from English to the aforementioned sign languages.
OR
A master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent degree in a major field of study related to Teaching ASL, ASL/English Interpreting (or Interpreter Training), Deaf Studies, Linguistics, or an appropriate discipline related to the field of ASL and Interpreter Education.
OR
A combination of both education and experience that meets the requirements for the CG-09.
CG-11: To qualify, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-09 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as experience:• Utilizing oral forms of communication to provide communication access for deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals.• Interpreting and transliterating from American Sign Language (ASL), Pidgin Signed English (PSE), Contact Variety Sign (CVS), and/or Manually Coded English (MCE) to English and from English to the aforementioned sign languages.; AND• Participating in diversity and inclusion, affirmative employment, or special emphasis programs.
OR
A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a major field of study related to Teaching ASL, ASL/English Interpreting (or Interpreter Training), Deaf Studies, Linguistics, or an appropriate discipline related to the field of ASL and Interpreter Education, or LL.M., if related.
OR
A combination of both education and experience that meets the requirements for the CG-11.
