About the Position: Fort Carson is a United States Army post located directly south of Colorado Springs in El Paso, Pueblo, Fremont, and Huerfano counties, Colorado, United States.

Duties

Receive and review incoming and outgoing correspondence and other communications and materials for the directorate. Monitor over-time and comp-time acquisition and use and, with the guidance of the Director, establish ceilings and controls as appropriate Utilize appropriate protocols and standards to coordinate meetings for the Directorate staff with the Garrison Executive Assistant. Exercise control over the Deputy and Director’s appointment calendars; use judgment and insight to assess and resolve potential scheduling conflicts. Utilize Department of Defense Automated Time Attendance and Production System (DATAAPS). Monitor over-time and comp-time acquisition and use and, with the guidance of the Director, establish ceilings and controls as appropriate. Administer the Alternate Work Schedule and Telework Program for the Directorate.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Occasional travel for temporary duty for government approved training or workshops related to the assignment -TDY may be 5%.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing a variety of office automation software to produce emails, documents, reports, and schedule meetings; providing administrative and management advisory services relative to policies and procedures to office personnel; reviewing and analyzing incoming and outgoing correspondence; maintaining files in accordance with office procedures; utilizing a variety of automated systems to schedule training, and/or enter timekeeping; and providing recommended action to administrative issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
