This position is part of the Office of Science - Headquarters, Department of Energy. As a Supervisory Financial Specialist, you will oversee the financial management process for SC's budget requests. Provide expert advice, analysis, guidance, and recommendations on a variety of financial and business-related issues, including, but not limited to, financial and budget management and financial management information technology (IT) systems design, development, integration, and deployment.

- This position does not support 100% remote work. You will be required to report physically to the official reporting worksite as specified by the supervisor, but no less than 2 days per pay period.

- First time supervisors will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period.
- A preliminary background check must be completed before a new employee can begin work. Current Federal employees or other individuals with an existing completed background investigation may not be required to undergo another background check.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-14) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following:
Analyzing complex financial studies in area of responsibility for the organization.
Designing routine and ad hoc reports covering the full spectrum of budget formulation and execution activities for projects, programs, and the organization, AND
Managing the budget formulation, execution, and audit processes on behalf of the organization.
"Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must (1) meet all of the requirements as described in this section; and 2) be rated "well-qualified", which is defined as having a score of 85 or better.
