The law clerk will provide legal research assistance and analytical support to attorneys in various organizations within the Office of the Chief Counsel (AGC).
Duties
The law clerk will perform basic but progressively more difficult assignments under the close direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional. Assignments will consist of specific tasks designed for orientation purposes to enhance the law clerk's knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) programs, policies, and related legal issues and support attorneys with routine and detailed work. The degree of guidance varies with the law clerk's experience and familiarity with assignments. Laws and regulations applicable to assignments are clear and specific.
Requirements
- US Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- This position has a positive education requirement. Transcript(s) required.
- This position provides an entry-level developmental opportunity with the potential to lead to a career in the Federal Government after successfully meeting all requirements for the program.
- Positions are temporary not-to-exceed 18 months under the FAA's Gateways Program.
- All participants must sign a written Recent Graduates Agreement with the FAA that clearly identifies expectations of the appointee (such as duties, performance, expectations, length of appointment, training, mentorship, etc.)
- Failure to pass the bar exam within 18 months of employment will result in termination of the appointment.
Qualifications
To qualify for this law clerk (0904) position, applicants must have graduated from an accredited law school with a professional law degree.
