Duties

This position will: Serve as the Computer Scientist for the Office of Data Services. Provide outreach to agency representatives to engage and educate in cutting-edge technology. Develop and deploy tools, frameworks, or solutions that turn the most vexing data problems into solutions that help Federal Agencies provide timely access to governmental information to the public or businesses. Oversee multi-discipline experts, including strategists, designers, data scientists, software developers, computer scientists, product developers and managers, and engineers.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. In addition to the above basic requirements, applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of the specialized experience at the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience supporting or leading data projects, assessments, or analyses to recommend strategies, techniques, or technologies to improve an organization's data strategy or data architecture or employ emerging technologies. Examples of this experience include an applicant having experience developing software systems, using emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, or robotic process automation, performing analysis of data systems, or conducting simulation modeling, and data analysis. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
