You will serve as a General Supply Specialist in the Supply Management Department, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Management Branch of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR JACKSONVILLE.

Duties

You will label and barcode all incoming hazardous material upon receipt. You will receive and record customer empty container returns, process customer HAZMAT requests and store incoming hazardous materials based on segregation compatibility. You will provide assistance and coordination of supply and material management practices in order to minimize disposal of excess hazardous material. You will maintain automated data base files for various reports. You will conduct semi-annual work center inspections for proper compliance of all program requirements and resolve discrepancies. You will use forklifts to load, unload, move and stack boxes and material in warehouse and trucks utilizing attachments as required.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current forklift license within 30 days of reporting for duty.

  • You may be required to lift up to 40 lbs in weight.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying knowledge of various supply regulations, policies, procedures and instructions relating to the operation of hazardous material, inventory management and issue and receipt processing to provide services for hazardous management and operational support. Examples of specialized experience should include some or all of the following; 1) Conducting physical inventory of hazardous materials, recording findings and making inventory adjustments if necessary; 2) Disposing of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with federal, state and local laws and regulations; 3) Providing procedural guidance to supply and material management personnel involved in the receipt, issue, storage, delivery, accounting, reutilization and disposal of hazardous material; 4) Reviewing procedures and analyzing reports of data to ascertain problems in accuracy, adequacy, adherence to procedures, etc. and implements corrective action as necessary; 5) Cataloging, receiving, ordering, labeling, storing, monitoring, issuing, inspecting, shelf-life management, delivery and disposal of hazardous material via an automated supply program. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Master's or equivalent graduate degree

OR

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

OR

LL.B. or J.D., if related
