About the Position: Serves under the Supervisory Museum Curator, collaborates with the museum staff on all matters pertaining to the museum story line and missiton statement, exhibit label content, artifact availability and overall management of the collection program.

Duties

Implements guided museum tours for a wide variety of audiences, including: visiting dignitaries, military officers and enlisted personnel, DA civilians, military family members, the general public and schools. Assists with the conservation of the museum artifact collection in accordance with standard museum conservation practices. Assists in developing annual budget requirements and expenditures. Maintains inventory, property storage, and retrieval of artifacts as required.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has an irregular tour of duty and may require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, and in other situations.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 25lbs without assistance and up to 70 lbs with assistance.

Assisting in the management of collection programs reviewing all matters pertaining to the museum story line and/or mission statement 2.) Assisting in the development of educational and training programs in accordance with museum's customer requirements; 3.) Maintaining inventories of museum's equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as American and US Military History. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Collection Resources ManagementHistory and ArchaeologyResearching Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
