About the Position: The incumbant serves as an Army Readiness Technical Expert in the development and presentation of Monthly/Quarterly Readiness Review briefing through US Army Combat Readiness Center (USACRC), located at Fort Novosel, AL.
Duties
Conduct analysis of mission and program goals and objectives of importance.
Identify resource shortfalls that limit unit readiness and recommend necessary resources to maximize force readiness.
Communicate to commanders in the field and the USACRC leadership, the unit’s readiness and its impact on the Army’s mission.
Conduct research and analysis of readiness policy and programs.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position is an obligated position.
Qualifications
Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 3YRS. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.
Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
This position is an obligate position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour. You will be asked to sign an agreement acknowledging that you are aware of the obligation and willing to be displaced under reduction in force procedures upon the return of the former incumbent.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) managing a readiness program for employee Safety and Occupational Health, (2) implementing various requirements of the Agency's safety program, (3) identifying shortfalls that limit unit readiness to recommend necessary changes, (4) applying regulations applicable to unit readiness, (5) analyzing unit readiness data to input into automated data systems, (6) preparing organizational readiness reports, (7) briefing Senior Management on findings to recommend changes pertaining to unit readiness and/or safety. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
