This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted position for a MACHINIST, Position Description Number PDD1214000, and is part of the SC CSMS, South Carolina Army National Guard.

Duties

This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facility. The purpose of this position is to serve as a Small Shop Chief (SSC) with responsibility for the overall operation of a small shop. The position oversees one or more workers who perform work as Machinist, WG-3414-11. Performs the full range of non-supervisory work of the shop.

Requirements

• NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is a Title 32 Technician Vacancy that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.

Qualifications

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO THE FOLLOWING AREA OF CONSIDERATION (AOC): Area of Consideration: This position is open to Area 1 Only. Area 1: Current employees of the South Carolina Army National Guard (Tenure 1 and 2) Area 2: Current members of the South Carolina Army National Guard Area 3: Any individual eligible for membership in the South Carolina Army National Guard *Temporary and Indefinite employees do not meet permanent tenure requirements and are not eligible for Area 1. GENERAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with a basic knowledge of machining processes. Must have the ability to use drill presses, shapers, planers and other types of associated machine tools SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training performing the full range of machining operations on most types of conventional or CNC machine tools and their various attachments. Experience or training in planning and lay out work from blueprints, worksheets and other drawings that may have missing or incorrect information. Skill in applying shop mathematics in establishing needed dimensions, such as those required for chasing threads or machining angular surfaces; locating and marking surfaces and angles to be machined. Skill in programming machining operations, setting up and operating CNC machine tools. Knowledge of and ability to apply advanced shop mathematics such as geometric and trigonometric formulas to make computation for laying out work, machining pieces at unusual or compound angles, determining gear ratios pitch, angles and other similar exact or precision dimension.
