Job opening: PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST

You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST of NAVSAFECOM.

Duties

You will determine common trends from fleet assessment visits. You will develop hazard trends and risk topics into written products to include narrative reports, talking points, and articles for publication. You will extract key topics and issues and translate complex analyses and technical jargon into concise, easily understandable plain language texts. You will create visual representations of strategic messaging to clarify complex issues. You will determine the appropriateness of elements of a strategic communications strategy and ways for improving future materials or adapting current materials to meet current needs more effectively. You will author and evaluate strategic communication plans for safety topics that communicate risks to Sailors and Marines across the fleet.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Articulating, presenting, and promoting various ideas and issues, to include sensitive or controversial topics, before a wide range of audiences by making clear oral presentations, listening effectively, and clarifying information as needed; 2) Providing public affairs and communication counsel to leadership, staff, and others as required to guide interactions between the organization and its publics; 3) Developing audio, visual, and/or multimedia products to meet the information and communication needs of the organization and its audiences; 4) Conveying written information in a clear, concise, and organized manner for the intended audience; and 5) Gathering data and providing relevant information to develop in-depth strategic communication plans.
